As known, water is critical for achieving Vision 2030 and plays an important role in all sectors of the economy. Its criticality is acknowledged in different sectors and as such, it should be well managed. To achieve this, the forum brings together various national and international stakeholders to share best practices on water management and mainstreaming water as a core component of social and economic development.
In addition, ZAWAFE hopes to strengthen stakeholder participation in water management and in so doing, provides a platform for different stakeholders to discuss different aspects of knowledge and research, policy formulation and implementation as well as the adaptation of strategies in ensuring sustainability and sound water management in Zambia. Likewise, ensuring water security for economic growth, environmental sustainability and social equity is critical for achieving Vision 2030. Therefore, ZAWAFE creates a platform where several issues pertaining to the attainment of SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation together with investments required to meet the aspirations of the SDGs, the National development plan and Vision 2030 can be discussed.
